Jonah's 2nd Birthday

Still catching up from Boston...

On Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed our day at Jonah's house for his big birthday bash! We had a great time watching him open presents. Watching Millie fight with Jonah for his new presents. Enjoying one last day together as a family. Lila made some AMAZING cakes of which we all devoured. It was wonderful spending time together on Jonah's special day.

Boston

While Grandpa and Grandma babysat, the big kids went to the city. Jill, Max, Dan, Caroline, Mat and I headed to downtown Boston to do a whirlwind Slovak tour-o-Boston. It was alot of fun but freeeezing cold.

Came to call with broken leg
Single roast beef could have nixed it
But for Nancy he’d still beg

Mat and Daniel, Neil came later
When they wrestled, Neil would shrill
After 3 boys in the family

Off to Wynmoor in Aruba
Fishing Club - aerobics girl
Using Lucite - Hadassah Woman
And the Wizard of Cut and Curl

Now this family has expanded
Gilda and Harold welcome all
Kenzi, Lila & Sweet Caroline
Tainow celebrations are a ball

Willners, Wimmers, Maggis, Davis’
Every holiday is shared
Also, Slovaks, today Maxie
Bring ‘em on – there’s nothing spared

Now great-grandchildren – nothing better

65th anniversary party

On Saturday morning we had a surprise 65th anniversary party for Gilda and Harold. Mat and I made a slideshow of pictures. Nancy wrote an amazing song for the two of them. The song is about Gilda and Harold from the beginning until present day. It is sung to the tune of "Oh my darling, oh my darling, Oh my darling, Clementine!".

Millie and Jonah Friday (pictures and 1 video)

On Friday morning we headed up to Boston, the home of the Slovak-Wimmer's. M3 and I got up early and were on the road by 8am. All was going according to plan until Millie started complaining that her belly hurt. Mat and I thought she was just wanting to get out of her car seat. She said it a couple more times and we asked her a little more about it but wasn't sure what to do.



We got to New Haven shortly after the belly pain and my nose smelled something funny. I turned to Mat and said, "New Haven stinks!" At the same time, I turned around to look at Millie and she is covered in milk vomit.




I am not going to go into detail but it was gross and boy did it smell!!! We pulled over at the next gas station and got everyone all cleaned up. Millie in new clothes and the car seat cleaned up as much as possible. Fed Milo while we were stopped and then continued on. Millie seemed to feel better after the puke fest. We made it to Boston in 5 hours, just in time for nap.











Lila and Neil graciously had us over to their house on Friday for a little get-together. We walked to a neighborhood restaurant for dinner. This was the second time that Jonah and Millie had met. They also met at the beach, a couple summers ago when they were babies. It was fun seeing them playing. Of course you had your typical 2 year old struggles. Millie took Jonah's toy, Jonah didn't want Millie to play with his trains. Auntie Jill was an excellent referee. We applaud her "services"!

Thanksgiving 2010

In totally random order (because I am too lazy to get all the pictures in the correct order), here are the highlights from Thanksgiving day. It was fun to watch Millie watching the Macy's Day parade. It was a staple in the Davis house and I was glad to see that the Tainows like it too. Millie enjoyed watching the bands, cheerleaders, floats go by. Although I don't think she grasped the concept of "parade".

Next up was Alice's Restaurant followed by the National Dog Show.

The whole party moves over to Great Grandma Fran's house. 26 pound turkey. Stuffing. Veggies. Potatoes. Appetizers. Dessert. Painting turkey cookies. TURKEY BOWLING!!!!




There might be a west coast conspiracy because our newest member Jeremiah won turkey bowling in a bowl-off with Daniel. Last year, Jeremiah's wife Emily won the coveted title. We think they might be practicing in the off season.




I had Millie's outfit handmade last year from here.We were pleasantly surprised that it still fit!
And Milo's outfit was handmade this year from here.
