In her 7th month of birth

It's been a great 7 month everyone! I am growing bigger and getting smarter everyday! I have 7 things to tell you about myself now that I am 7 months.

1. I started making this fake coughing sound to grab everyones attention. My teacher Priya always comes over and tends to my every need. I love it when my mom does it, and I do it back to her. It always makes her laugh.

2. I am learning a couple new signs. I pretty much have the sign for "milk" down pat. I am learning the sign for "more". But I get alot more accomplished when I bang my hands on my highchair tray. But nobodys likes it when I do that.

3. I am about ready to crawl so WATCH OUT! I can get up on my knees and rock. I am also doing this tripod thing where I push my butt in the air like a wheelbarrel! I am not getting very far but it sure is fun! So fun that my mom and dad had to lower my crib in case I got any naughty ideas.

4. I am eating all kinds of fun things now. Pears, apples, peaches, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, apple butternut squash, plums, etc. I hear talks of adding meat into my diet which sounds very cool.

5. I have learned how to wave. I basically flap my hands and laugh. It's great fun.

6. I am 100% on formula. Woohoo! I absolutely love to grab the nipple of the bottle when it is full of milk and squirting it all over myself and anyone who is feeding me! It's great!

7. I starting eating rice cakes which are quite tasty. The kinda melt in your mouth. I am also getting used to drinking out of a sippy cup and sometimes a big girl cup! I love water just like my mommy!

Grandma T

It's been quite awhile since I posted last. It's been so busy in the past couple weeks, I don't know where to begin!

Well, Grandma Terry came to visit which was awesome! Mat and Jose took a trip to "business" trip to Las Vegas. I am not sure how much "business" they took care of but Mat came back a winner and that is always a good thing!

Unfortunately Mat missed Grandma Terry's visit! We had a great girls weekend without him. Terry came in late Thursday and has a very funny taxi story. I will let her share that with ya. Friday I was off to work and Terry had a wonderful day with Millie. It sounded like they had a ton of fun. Friday night we went to dinner at E11 with Pavan & Jeevan. Katie, Mike and Mike's dad were in as well and we had a great time chatting up with everyone.

My friend Julie, from college, was in town this same weekend. Taking advantage of the fabulous live-in babysitter this weekend, I was able to go to brunch with the girlfriends! It was great to see them and hang out with Julie. It's good to have such friends right when you need them. I have a friend that is going through a tough time so I was glad to be there for her.

Saturday afternoon we packed up and heading to do some shopping with Pavan & Jeevan. I picked up some new shirts which was a great relief. Having someone watch Millie while you are in the dressing room is wonderful! At dinner, we gave Millie's booster seat a 2nd try and it worked great! So now when we come in to a restaurant we have a
booster seat
diaper bag (that seems to be getting heavier)
Millie in a car seat
It's quite the spectacle!

Saturday night I got to go out with my girlfriends which was a blast.

Sunday we went for brunch at E11 and rounded out our trip at Intimacy with some fabulous purchases. It was a great weekend with Terry and we were so happy to have some family around.

Our tickets are booked for Florida and we can't wait for more family time!

Pink girls

Millie and I were pink on Friday in support of Brook, who lost her twin baby girls, Sydney and Carynne earlier this week. In January, the twin girls were diagnosed with Werdnig-Hoffman disease. Their funerals are today, which is also the day they would be six months old. Send your good thoughts and prayers to Brook and Jake today.

Millie's Morning

Sunday afternoon with Dan-o-line

On Sunday, Mat and I wanted to try a new place for brunch. A friend of Mats, who owns our favorite Indian restaurant, opened this small joint in downtown Oakhurst. It's called Nectur. It was okay. Kinda pricey. We may be back, not sure. That afternoon, Daniel and his girlfriend Caroline had a 5 hour layover on their way to Puerto Rico. We had a great time at lunch and just hanging out at the house. It was great to see them again!

After everyone left and Mat when to work, I just hung out at the house and made my lunches/dinners for this week. It was a great weekend!

A little update on Millie's sleeping situation. From day one, Millie has always slept on her back. The past couple nights she has been flipping over to her belly. Not sure if she is falling asleep this way or doing it while she is sleeping. Anyway, it is fine until she wakes and realizes that she is on her belly and gets really upset. After talking with some of my Mommy friends, I am pretty sure she will get used to sleeping on her belly after about a week.

Valentines Saturday evening / Parents Night Out

We had a great time on our date! We went to a nice sushi place and it was good but I thought it was a little pricey. But we had a bottle of wine which was VERY tasty. Afterwards we walked next door to Krispy Kream and got two HOT heart shaped donuts. Yum! We also got a dozen for each bar. We went to Engine 11 to have a few more drinks and deliver the donuts. Then we stopped into Sidebar to delivered their donuts. Then we went downstairs to The Mark which had just opened up. Millie was having a rough night so we left to go get her around midnight. We both had a great night and it was really fun.

Millie was a little fussy at the Damico's and was protesting sleep! Hopefully she will not be like that next time! Click here to see Millie and Vince playing at Jackie's house.

Valentines Saturday afternoon

Saturday afternoon, Millie and I met up for a walk with some great friends. I have known Trisha and Jen from a Mommie & Me breastfeeding meeting we went to ages ago. Our babies were all born right around the same time. They are a great support to me and I cherish their friendship. We did 6 miles and my butt was sore the rest of the weekend!

The kids really enjoyed it and I took some pictures of the three of them after the walk. Pardon the sweaty moms! Click here to see the pictures.

I love in this picture Jack is trying to kiss Millie, Millie is trying to pull away and Kara is like "uh oh, I might be next!"

Blue Dress

My mother made me this dress when I was just a year old. She just sent it to me and it fit Mils perfectly. Click here to see more pictures of her in the blue dress. And yes, there are a ton.

Messy Millie

Here we are feeding Millie some peas Saturday morning. She went a little crazy wanting to use her peas as hair gel! She is going to have to get some hair if she is going to use hair gel!

Valentines Friday Night

We did a little kid swap this weekend. I watched THE Vincent Damico and in return, the Damico's watched Millie on Saturday so we could go out.

So on Friday, I had the pleasure of watching the lovely Vincent. He was a pleasure and it was great practice for when Millie starts crawling around.

I cleaned and baby proofed the house as much as possible but I was interested in seeing what V was going to get into. Of course he went straight for Siler's dog bed and dog toys. Her dog dish and water bowl were also fascinating to Vince. It was so cool to see him playing with toys that Millie hasn't quite figured out yet. Anyway, click here for a couple pictures of V cruising the Tainow home

I had been prepping Millie all week that her friend Vince was coming over. And telling her how much fun we were going to have! Etc etc. I picked Millie up from daycare on Friday and she zonked out on the ride home. This is very typical as she is just averaging one nap a day at school (ugh!). So she zonked out and so I took her car seat out and just put it in her bedroom so she could not be bothered. The girl did not wake up till 9:30pm!!! She missed Vince's entire stay!

Oh well, hopefully there will be a next time!

Valentines Friday

Millie had a rough night last night. I think her teeth are really bothering her. She wasn't even awake really, just crying with her eyes closed. After a bit of Tylenol, she calmed down and fell asleep. But not without making the cutest cooing noises in the monitor. I told Mat that for baby #2, I am going to need one of those expensive video baby monitors so I can watch the baby. However, I might not get alot of sleep because I will be staring at it the whole night!

I don't know why but I felt inspired by the Valentines Holiday. Usually Mat and I don't celebrate this Hallmark holiday but this year we are. We are watching Vince on Friday night so Jackie and Matt can go to a dinner/movie. They are watching the Millster on Saturday night. I made reservations for MF Sushi but I really wanted to go to Stoney River Steak House. Of course they are totally booked up. Boo! We might try and go to a movie as well.

I went to Target yesterday and got each of Millie's classmates a little something from Mils. Hopefully they will like them. I got the teachers a little gift as well. Millie's class room is shoe-less so I got them some comfy slippers. I also got Priya a couple other things cause she takes such good care of Mils.

My mom sent Millie this Valentines dress. It's 9 months so I thought it wouldn't fit...um, it does. I am in denial that she is growing up! Can you tell that her teeth hurt? She had a rough night last night! Click here to see the rest of the pictures.

Millie has been doing this waving, squeezing thing with her left hand at dinner. For the past couple nights I have thought she was trying to wave at me so I was waving back to her. Mat was doing the same. We thought she was so cool for learning to wave.

Well, Mat drops her off at daycare today and he tells Priya that Millie has been doing this hand thing at dinner and he thinks she is waving! Priya is like, "no...that means she wants her bottle! I have been teacher her the sign for milk!"

OMG! We feel like such dorks that we didn't know! We have been teaching her "eat" "water" "more" "cereal" but that's about it. My baby is learning sign language! Although it does make me want to cry because I wasn't the one to teach it to her....and I didn't know what she was signing! Still, it's VERY COOL!

New Doors!

Well...sort of. After the break in we had to replace all the doors (front and back). We picked some out from Lowes and ordered them. They finally came in and were to be installed today. I offered to take Millie to daycare so Mat could have the morning to deal with the workers but we decided it was too early for Mils to be at daycare. So they arrive and Siler goes nuts. She has been very jumpy since the break in and to have lots of strange men in the house didn't help. So the dog is going nuts and barking up a storm which is making Millie cry. They the men start the work and begin banging around and making lots and lots of noise! Which makes Millie cry harder! Then Mat realizes that they have ordered and delivered the wrong front door. So he is running around trying to find the paperwork, dealing with a dog who is barking her head off, and a crying Millie who is really upset! After some negotiating, Lowes ordered a new door for us and the craziness calmed down. Mat whisked Millie to daycare and then off to Engine 11. I took a half day so I was home to watch them finish up the work. As they were finshing up, I noticed that the door on the left is dented so they ordered us a new one of those as well. But in the mean time, we can use the doors. Thank goodness!

I love the new doors. I love that I don't have to hang curtains anymore. I love that the glass is tempered which will prevent people from breaking the glass. I love that the doors are on an out-swing which leaves more room in our dining area. The out-swing doors also pretty much insure that people can't break in because they can't kick it in.

I do want to get screens for these doors but that's more $$$$. I am done spending for now. Maybe before the summer.

The new front door will arrive in about a month. Enjoy the few pictures!

Monday with the Ashe

Very last minute, we went to Margie's house on Monday. We went for a walk and had a great time catching up. Margie knows alot about neighborhood schools, children, coupon clipping, etc. She is a mom of all traits! I am so lucky to have her as a friend. She showed me a bit of The Grocery Game which I am thinking about sign up for. After our walk, the kids had some fun times on the floor.

Lillian, almost 5
Jonathan, 7 months (Born July 2)

Daddy/Millie at Lowes

Sometimes I forget how much these two look like each other. Check out those ears! They are EXACTLY the same! They kinda just curve out at the ends. So cute! These two were waiting very patiently at Lowes for me to pick out some curtains/blinds.

Saturday with Daddy

After all the excitement of Saturday morning wore off, we hung out with Mat the rest of the day. We spent alot of time on our front stoop taking pictures and getting our Vitamin D. Later we went for a walk to the library and around East Atlanta. We completed our walk with a stop at Brownwood Park right by our house. We thought Millie might want to try the swing out, so we gave it a try. She just loved it!! She laughed and giggled. Take a look at the video below.
This second picture is my favorite. She looks so comfy on Mat's shoulder.

Mommy brunch

After the video shoot on Saturday, we headed to the home one of my Mommy friends, Kelly. Her family has a beautiful house near Oglethorpe University. We had a great time with all of the mommies. We had a good time connecting with everyone. And a few more mommies join the group. We are getting rather large and it's been fun meeting everyone! The food was delicious! I think I was eating so much that I forgot to take pictures! Vince discovered the stairs and went climbing right on up! He might have been trying to get away from all the girls. He was the only boy but did like the odds! At the end we took some group shots of the babies but these were not easy to do. Millie threw a fit and Vince was crawling away. It was quite hilarious actually. Maybe next time we can move them to the floor. It's only going to be harder once everyone starts to crawl! To see pictures of the Mommy brunch, click here

video shoot

On Saturday we had a busy morning! Someone at CNN was asking for volunteers for this video shoot of a new baby product. So I signed Millie up to be a baby in the video. So Saturday morning, Jackie, and her son Vince, picked us up to head to a video shoot! We got there and both Jackie and Vince had a great time posing for the camera. I will send you the link and pictures as soon as we hear from the company. I didn't take many pictures at the video shoot since someone else was. To see a couple of the background, click here.

Millie Wear

Millie is sporting some snowflake Babylegs made by Mama D.

This hat (and fuzzy cat) is a part of Millie's new outfit from Barbara, Joellen and Andy. Thank you so much for thinking of Millie! I hope she can wear it at the beach this summer! To see more pictures of Millie in her hat, click here.

It's simply adorable!

2 things

Two things.
1. Millie sat up in her crib at daycare all by herself! I think she pulled herself up on the spindles but all together it's exciting! We haven't witnessed it ourselves but it's great news!

2. Millie took a walk in the big girl stroller today! It was an amazing afternoon and warentted a walk around the hood.

We want to wish Jon and Terry safe travels to Vieques! They will be there on vacation for the a week.

And we want to thank Barbara, JoEllen and Andy for the sweet gift they sent Millie this week. Pictures are coming!

These week was fun! Uneventful but a good week. I started researching elementary schools believe it or not. And finding out what exactly you do with a child when your parents aren't teachers! I know we have time but it's always good to look. Finding a school might be harder than finding daycare!

We are in store for a big weekend. I'll keep you updated with our goings-on.

If you know anyone who would like to be notified of the blog updates, please email me their email and I will add them to the list. I changed the list a little bit which allowed more people to be notified when I send out an update. Anyway, the more the merrier!

Birthday / Teeth

Today we went to my friend Jessica's daughter's birthday. Amelia turned 4 today and wanted a pinata and a Dora (Dora the Explorer) cake. We had a great time and Millie did to. To see pictures from the party, click here.

This evening I sat down to feed Millie her dinner and thought I saw something in her mouth. Mat popped by and I asked him to look for some teeth. I don't know why but it kinda creeps me out to stick my fingers in her mouth. I absolutely do not like it if someones fingers are in my mouth. Dirt. Germs. Yuck. I can't stand it. I guess that is why I can't stick my fingers in myself.

Anyway, Mat felt in there and found two teeth! I couldn't even believe we didn't know she was actually teething! To see pictures of Mat trying to get Millie's mouth open, click here.
