Callaway on Saturday

On Saturday, Mom, Millie and I headed down to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. The azaleas just started to bloom and it was a perfect sunny day. We walked all around the garden but the primary mode of transportation around Callaway is by bike. It was really beautiful there and I hope we can go back. In two weeks, I can only imagine what the flowers are going to be like.

We took some amazing pictures so I hope you take some time to look through. But if you don't, I posted some of my favorites here. Take a look at the close up of Millie's face, you can see me taking her picture in the reflection of her eye.

And check out those turtles! All sunning themselves along a stick.

Millie's new rides

Mom suggested that we bring out the umbrella stroller and after checking out the weight requirement, realized that Millie was well over the limit! So we gave not one, but two umbrella strollers a test run. You can probably tell which one is Mat's favorite! We got lots of use out of them while Mom has been here. Millie seems to really like them!

Arty again!

Millie got her "art on" again on Friday when she and Mom took a trip to the Atlanta Civic Center to see the King Tut exhibit. They both seemed to love it! I will have to check it out myself. Apparently Millie is the perfect date to any art function so call her if you need her!

Bathtime favorites

Some of my bath time favorites from last night...

Millie gets Arty!

Mom & Millie headed to the High Museum of Art today and had a great day hanging out at the museum. I joined them after work and we went to the "The First Emperor: China's Terracotta Army" exhibit.

It was a GREAT exhibit and I hope you get to see the soliders as well. It's a very interesting story. The terracotta figures, dating from 210 BCE, were discovered in 1974 by some local Chinese farmers. Over 8,000 soldiers were found and each soldier is different. From the build to the facial expression, each is different. They range in height (6ft–6ft 5in), according to their role, the tallest being the generals. Each soldier had a different piece of actual armor in his hands. The figures found include warriors, chariots, horses, officials, acrobats, strongmen, and musicians. Current estimates are that in the three pits containing the Terra Cotta Army there were over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits. I snapped a couple pictures before the "museum police" caught me. Unfortunately I didn't get too many. After the museum, we appropriately got Chinese take out and went home. I got a new flash for my camera and gave it a whirl last night at bath time. To see pictures from Thursday, click here.

Millie's new smile

Today Mom & Millie went for a big ole' walk around our neighborhood and Grant Park. It has rained alot this week. Good for Georgia. Bad for Mom and Millie. Poor Mom comes to Atlanta for the week and it rains every day! Good thing she has a new rain coat! Despite the rain, they have made it out and about everyday which has been lots of fun for the both of them.

It could be the new front teeth coming it but ever since that first tooth started to appear, Millie has a new smile. She kinda scrunches up her face and breathes in and out really fast. It's hilarious and you can't help but laugh! Click here for more pictures from yesterday! She had a great time pressing her face into the glass door. Mom and I couldn't stop laughing! This Easter egg matched her outfit perfectly!

I go into Millie's room now and she typically looks like this! She's a big girl! She is pulling herself up on everything and crawling (on all fours) all over the place!

She has had a couple of rough nights this week (yes, it's only Tuesday). We think it's because of teething. Hopefully it's just a phase cause Mommy and Daddy are tired!

My mom is visiting this week and she and Millie are having lots of fun. More pictures to come but here are a few. We are playing with our camera.

Monday swings

Vince got a new swingset and we were more than happy to give it a try! Millie and Vince had a great time swinging together. The fort, the wheel, the slide, it was all great fun!

Some of these pictures were taken with the flash which makes it seem really dark!

Thank you Jackie, Matt and Vince for dinner and fun!

My Dad turns 60!

My mom, sister and I planned a big surprise 60th birthday party for my Dad on March 14. It was a great party and he was REALLY surprised. I created the invitations here and sent it to everyone. My dad has touched many lives in many ways over his sixty years. We told each person invited to write him a note telling him why we are glad he is here. Each note began with “We Are Glad You Were Born Dave Davis”. I can't wait to read each note for myself. We had a great amount of people who traveled from all over to attend. It was a great night. Only wish the Tainows could have been there to celebrate. Click here to see the pictures.

8 month Millie

Millie is certainly growing by leaps and bounds! Let me let her tell you...

Hey everybody! Guess what! I am 8 months old! I have learned many new things this month. So her are 8 things about my 8 months.

1. I have learned how to sit up from a crawling position. I have also learned to pull myself up in my crib. I don't really know what to do after that. Sometimes I just stand there until Mommy and Daddy come to get me. I like standing up!

2. I can play at my light table all by myself. No assistance needed! I love it and could spend alot of time there.

3. I am crawling all around the house! There are so many interesting things all over the floor. Mommy and Daddy better get to babyproofing the house!

4. I have another tooth! One of my front two teeth is coming in. My mommy gets grossed out when I tried to show her. I didn't know it but my new tooth is the reason for my super runny nose and occasional fussy evenings. I think my other tooth is coming in as well. I'll keep you posted.

5. I have a new smile! I scrunch up my face and give a big grin!

6. I have a new ride! I am big enough for the umbrella stroller! I plan on getting alot of use out of it in the coming weeks. Especially the Florida Gator one that I have. It makes Daddy smile every time!

7. I love to talk. Wonder where I get that from? I was making alot of Ddddddd sounds for daddy. But now I have switched and I am doing alot of Mmmmmm sounds for Mommy. I squeal and scream just to hear my own voice.

8. I am starting to eat meats and they are super yummy! I don't care for fruits much and veggies are still my favorite.

Millie's first mohawk?

Millie in some shades

They didn't stay on long before she took them off and ate them. Hopefully with a little practice every day, she will get used to them.

Engine 11 GTG

On Saturday we had a great GTG with all of my Mommie group friends. These are all the ladies that I have met through the original breastfeeding support group. This time we invited Daddies to come along as well. We had a little area set up for the babies and it all worked out really well. I heard nothing but good things from the great service and food, to the beautiful setting. It was a great afternoon.

Video shoot pictures

These are from back on March 11. Remember that video shoot we did in March? There was a photographer there as well. He was snapping pictures for the website and whatnot. The commercial was for these bumpers that have spaces for pictures and/or video. Millie was quite taken with the product. The video commercial is not finished yet but I will post when it is. I was pretty happy because Mils and I finally got some nice pictures of the two of us! Millie's buddy Vince was there that day too. Click here to see his pictures! Click here to see Millie's pictures. Below are some of my favorites. Enjoy!

The O'Tainows

She looked cute as a button and I think they had alot of fun today. My mom made Millie these St Patty's babylegs. We have been saving them for the day and today was the day! She and her buddy Ellie Fitzpatrick were wearing the same outfit. They looked so cute! Ellie's outfit spoke the truth though. Millie was just posing as a little Irish girl as we have zero Irish in us.

I bought the class little "Wee bit of Irish" t-shirts and they seemed to love them. Priya took a class picture where all the kids are wearing the shirts. The little ones are getting to big for the t-shirts so for Easter, I got them all something else. I still think they will enjoy them!

After school today we met John, Julie, Amanda, Iver, Katie and Mike at Engine 11 for a beer and some dinner. Engine had live music and lots of people enjoying the patio. To enjoy pictures of the day, click here.
