Thanksgiving day pics

Click here for more pictures of Thanksgiving 2008.

We had a great time at Jose and Pavan's for Thanksgiving. The food was devine, the company was even better. We checked in with the Tainow crowd. We wanted to see just who won Turkey Bowling. Uncle Howie was crowned again. I think he practices on the off season.

Can't wait for more pics of our new cousin Jonah!!

Click here to see Nancy's pictures from the Tainow Thanksgiving 2008. The pictures include turkey cookies, giving thanks and turkey bowling!

Thanksgiving 2008

What a great day. We started out this morning with a nice sleep! We all got to sleep in which was great! I made some cinnamon pancakes for the family for breakfast. I was in my robe. Mat was in his sweatpants. Millie was in a robe & sweatpants. It was the perfect lounging wear for Thanksgiving. What would Thankgiving be without Mat in sweatpants??

We called the Tainow's to find out what as going on up there. The turkey was already finished and warming. Terry was cooking and getting ready for the day. Daniel and Caroline were there eating breakfast. We tried to do the webcam online (www.mebeam.com) but it wasn't working. I guess too many people were trying to see thier family too! Hopefully Uncle Andy will have his laptop at Grandma Frances' and we can give it another try. We called again when everyone was listening to "Alice's Restaurant" on the radio. It's a Tainow tradition. We are sad to miss the big turkey in NJ today. Hopefully next year things will be different and we can all be together as a family.

Aren't webcam's the greatest invention? We chatted with the Davis' several times this morning. We got to see Grandma Norris cooking her fabulous noodles, Mom was mashing the potatoes, Courtney was in her high chair waiting to eat, Chloe and Kari were looking beautiful in blue! They all looked like they had a great time!

Can't wait to post pictures of Millie in her Thanksgiving outfit!

4 months old

Click here for more 4 month pictures. Can you believe how she is growing into this dress? It almost fits!

4 things about 4 month old Millie
1. I like to suck on anything and everything. If it fits, or even if it doesn't, I like it in my mouth!

2. I have moved up to level 2 nipples in my bottles at daycare. I'm getting big and like to drink fast. And this week I also moved into size 2 diapers! I can't wait to see how much I weigh!

3. My favorite time of the day is in the morning. It's hard to wipe a smile off my face. I get lots of time with Daddy. He reads to me, dresses me, I pull on his nose, and we just get some wonderful quality time together.

4. I am starting to notice our dog Siler. I notice when Mommy picks me up from daycare (I give her the biggest smile and it makes her happy). I am starting to play with toys on my excersaucer. The toys make noise and I love it!

Our next doctors appointment is on Monday! Can't wait to see how much I have grown!

Daycare Woes

So some of you might know that our daycare is moving locations by January. The new location is in Morningside which is a bit hard for us to get to. We aren't really sure what we are going to do. We have been on several waiting lists since January 2008 and have heard nothing.

After calling several daycares today, I started thinking...

In our current daycare, I was kind of curious about the turnover rate in the infant room (the only room I really know about). In the two months that I have been there, 3 babies have come and gone. The room only takes 4 infants total. Is that typical in a daycare? Do these parents know something I don't? I would like to talk with these parents but I am not sure how to get their info (email/phone). Millie is the last child picked up every day so I don't see/talk to any parents.

The school is moving locations and that could totally be the reason. I know we ourselves are looking elsewhere because of the move. But I was just wondering if this turnover, for whatever reason, is typical.

So I was thinking about emailing the director. I do have good communication with the director. Is it okay that I ask her that? I hate confrontation. I need to buck up when it comes to issues like this. Does anyone have a backbone I can barrow?

Okay, so I emailed and asked. I was so nervous pressing "send". She wrote back that all the infants have switched because of the daycare move. Hopefully she is telling me the truth. Now I want to know where these kids went to! I need to switch too!

In the mean time, Millie is doing wonderfully. She is drooling alot, smiling all the time, sucking everything she can. I gave her this blanket and she is constantly putting it in her mouth. She will suck on anything and everything. She sure is a happy baby!

Typical Day in the life of Millie

These "Cuddle Grams" are what parents get each night when they pick up their child. The teacher in there now likes to jot down everything but it's kinda fun knowing what she is up to!

All bundled up

The family went for a walk this evening despite the chilly weather. Millie seemed to stay warm. Her cheeks were certainly rosey when we finished! Check out the pictures here.

Date Night

Tonight Mat had a bright idea. He wanted to see the new James Bond movie but there wasn't really anyway to take Millie to the theater. So why not the next best thing, the Starlight Drive in! It's right down the road from our house so why not. If Millie cried, we could just creep out the back. So we packed up the car and Millie and headed down the street. It was a great date night and Millie slept the entire time! We will do this again soon for sure!

Millie and her friends

Went for a long walk this morning and it felt great. These are her friends Jack and Kara. They are going to be friends for a long time! So are their mommies!

Little update

So we have been wheeling since Tuesday's victory. It was a glorious day and today is a NEW DAY!

Tonight we went over to Katie and Mike's to celebrate their birthdays. I made not one but two cakes! I am think they turned out pretty good! Check out my cooking blog for the recipes.

This week Millie has taken to her index finger. She is chewing on it instead of her thumb and instead of her fingers. She is also starting to make sounds when she smiles which to us...that means it's a laugh! We tried to get it on film but she didn't preform. She is also starting to play in the excersaucer. To see pictures of this morning in the excersaucer, click here. Millie is holding her head up so we put in her in there to have some fun. She seems to like it! She is starting to grab for things although not regularly. She hasn't rolled over since the video which is a bummer. We try just about every morning but no luck.

Big week coming up. Mat is going to take care of Millie Monday evening as I am going to a funeral. My close family friend Dona lost her mother this weekend. We are all thinking about her & her family during these tough times.

Tuesday is a parents night out. Mat and I are going to the Coldplay concert at Phillips Arena. Uncle Mike & Auntie Katie are coming over to babysit. Hopefully she will be on her best behavior!

Election Night

History making night. I can't even believe it! President Obama. Look who is SUPER happy about Obama, the US and Ohio going BLUE! Click here for more Election night fun times with Millie.

Election Day

So today is a big day for our country. I have been looking forward to this day for a long long time. I hope our vote will make a difference for Millie and her future. Thank you Aunt Nancy for her onesie! She sure is going to make a statement today at daycare!! Click here for more pictures from election day.

I got up early, fed Millie and headed to the polls. The line was looooooooooooooong. I wandered down and found the end of the line. I called Mat to let him know the status and since Millie was up, they packed up and came down. She was perfect and enjoyed all the people watching. I was happy Mat was there with me. He was telling me how he remembers going to vote with his parents. My mom and dad always vote together and I like that tradition. Voting is so empowering and I am honor to have the right.

They had free coffee and refreshments which was great. We saw friends and neighbors which was fun. Millie was overly excited about the election so she feel asleep. It took about 2 hours but we voted!

Daycare tummy time

Our daycare sent us these pictures from yesterday. Millie looks like she is having some fun tummy time. She seems to be doing really well at this daycare. The teacher situation still hasn't resolved itself. I believe they are still looking for someone full time. But I really like the girl who is in there now. Mat has been dropping Millie off in the mornings and it's been great for me! I know it won't last much longer so I am enjoying it while it lasts!
