Travelling to the beach!

It was wonderful to see the kids again. We really enjoyed the time away but we really REALLY missed them! Millie was pumped to see us. Milo was hesitant at first but after about 10 second, he was open arms. They hadn't changed a bit.

The next morning, we set off for the 1.5 hour drive to LBI. This, as many from NJ know, is a voyage that could take 1.5 hours...or 8. You never know. This pic is a bit of the traffic we were in. Check in day for everyone is Saturday. Check out day is Saturday. Mass traffic going onto the island and long lines going out. It's crazy. Danoline knew best and left at like 6:30am. We didn't leave till 8a and got caught in some traffic. But after stopping at EVERY potty along the way, we made it.

Nancy/Howie and Terry/Jon (mostly Terry & Nancy) carefully take their time and select the worlds perfect beach house every year. Terry & Nancy make a weekend of this and do it all in the bitter cold of NJ winter. They are few requirements but they are a must.

Must have a outdoor shower.
Must have a deck.
Must be beachfront.

This year, the beach house was more perfect that ever. We had both floors of this beautiful house. Millie and Milo shared a room. Danoline and we were all on the bottom. We had our own deck, laundry, bathroom, kitchen, living room.
Jon/Terry, Howie/Nancy, JillMax, all were upstairs with all the same. Roof top deck was amazing for the beautiful sunsets.

It's the same routine every year. Unload everything quickly and get set up. Then go rent bikes. Millie loved the bunk beds (although she slept on the bottom) so that is great news since we have plans for bunk beds in the kids' room.

That night we went to a birthday party of Neil's mother-in-law at their beach house down the road. Those pictures, you can see here. Here is a pic of the sunset from our roof deck. Sorry for all the iPhone pics!

flying

What do parents do while flying kid free?
We get dropped off at the airport and check in with ease.
We use our iPhones to scan at security.
We get to hang in the Skyclub where we drink wine and eat yummy snacks while waiting for our flight.
We get upgrades to first class.
We get free wine before take off.
We get a warm cloth for our face and hands.
We get a pretty tasty dinner.
We get to watch and movie (one that we have yet to finish)
We take silly pictures like these with my new lenses for my iPhone.

Milo turned one!

Going back in time again. Milo turned one year old!! He was going to be in NJ for the big day so we celebrated a little early on June 11. We had lots of friends and family over to celebrate the big occasion. There was a bounce house and the crooked house was completed just hours before. Some of the paint may still have been wet!

In honor of Grandpa Jon's retirement from Amtrak, we did a train theme. The Little Engine that Could. My mom made all of Kari and my birthday cakes and I have been trying to do the same. I made a 3D cake the first year and it has seem to stick. So, Milo's train cake was no different. The cake I made dairy free but at the last moment, I got nervous and cut off all the icing (bad mom, I know!!) But he seemed to enjoy it anyway. A big thanks to all the friends and family that were able to come and celebrate.

Birthday Boy NJ style!

Happy Birthday Milo!!!

What a wonderful year it has been. This boy has brought so much cheer and love into our lives. He is funny and always smiling and for that, we love him even more. Milo made his entrance into the world one year ago today, around 6pm. It was calm. It was peaceful. It was lovely. And ever since, he has continued to make us smile with his own infectious smile and spirit. We love you birthday boy!
