Millie gets political...again

So I didn't know it until this week but Joe Biden came to Lancaster to speak today. My friend Katie and I took the kiddies and went! It was great to see so many people there. Some said there were about 500-1000 people there. I have a hard time with numbers so I am not sure. Millie slept through most of it but it was fun!

I am pretty sure we might be in the paper tomorrow. They took quotes from Katie and I. And two people took pictures of Millie and I for the paper. Keep you posted!

Katie's dad Dave is the republican mayor of Lancaster but he came anyway. It was fun to see him there doing mayoral duties as well as being a Grandpa. Mom, Dad and Kari were all working or else I know they would have been there. I saw several familiar faces so that was nice. After the speech, I went up to shake Joe's hand and mentioned that my father-in-law was Jon Tainow from Amtrack. He seemed to know who he was and told me that Amtrack was going to be around for a long time. I showed him Millie and told him that this was Jon's first grand-daughter. He was very cordial. I quickly coated my hands with Purell. I think he shook like 200 hands and you never know!!!! It was a fun time despite the beating sun. Enjoy the slideshow!

Dinner with Karla

Karla has been a friend for many years. We were sorority sisters in college and even roommates. She is a great friend of mine and I was so happy she got to meet Millie. On Tuesday night we went up to Hillard, Ohio to meet Karla for dinner. She showed us around her lovely home. To see some pictures of Karla and her home, click here.

10 mile walk

I have to mention that on Sunday, we went for a big ole walk in preperation of the race this coming Sunday. Katie, Cindy, Kari, Mom and I walked 10 miles in just under 3 hours. Mom felt fabulous afterward. I was hurting. I think I must have been training at a slower pace. With the stroller and the dog, I must have been a little slower. I think it took till about Wednesday to feel better. Now we are going to walk about 5-6 miles tonight. Hopefully I will feel a bit better. Can't wait till Sunday!

Click here to see some pictures with Cindy, Addison and Millie before the walk.

Love to Learn

Millie and I have been hanging out with Kari and her kids this week. For those of you who don't know, she runs an in-home daycare at her home. Her kids are adorable and are fascinated over Millie. Luke, Isabella, Tanner, Parker, Emily, Emilee, Chloe and Courtney.

Ohio Tuesday

My coworker Erica gave Millie tons of hand-me-down clothes when she was first born. This is one of the adorable outfits. On a sunny day, Mom/Dad's bedroom happens to be the best place to take pictures. It's so bright and sunny. Sunlight coming in from all directions. Basically you don't have to use a flash and you get some gorgeous pictures. Enjoy the slideshow from this morning.

Great Grandma Beckett Visit

On Sunday we all travelled down to Caldwell to visit Great Grandma Beckett! We all went to cousin Kylie's and hung out with family. Jessie, Kylie, Jayne and Karl Crum were there. Jayne is dad's sister. And Dad's other sister Janet was there with her boyfriend, Larry. It was a great afternoon with family. To see pictures from our afternoon, click here

She's a buckeye in the buckeye state!

Millie was cheering on her buckeyes today!
She couldn't stay up long enough to watch the Gators tonight!

Fair Day!

Today we geared up and walked down to the Fairfield County Fair. This was Chloe's 3rd trip so she showed us all around. We enjoyed lots of fair food which included dumbo ears, greasy french fries, shredded chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and fried cheese on a stick (which you can see me enjoying below)! Millie enjoyed it so much that she feel asleep after lunch. She missed all the animal barns but I am sure she smelled them!

We saw my friend Katie's award winning Strawberry Jam!

Tomorrow Dad is going to hang out with Millie while Katie, Kari, Mom, Cindy and I all go for our training walk...10 miles! Wish us luck!

Ohio Bound

We three took off for Ohio around 8:40am. It was a little later than we wanted to start but we were off in decent time. Millie had a full belly and took her morning nap. We stopped to feed a couple times. She drank a couple bottles on the road. She was only upset when she got tired. Mil took a big long nap in the afternoon. It helped that Dad drove. I moved from the back to the front, reading Millie books and playing with her. She was such a trooper.

She only got really upset the final 30 mins of the trip. And we were pushing it on her feeding time...we just wanted to get home. So we arrived in Lancaster a little after 8pm. Mama D was so happy to see her again. Kari and kids come over tomorrow morning and we are heading to the Fairfield County Fair!

Dad flys to Atlanta

My family wasn't to keen on my driving to Ohio by myself. Although I had the utmost of confidence in myself (and Millie), I was very thankful to Dad who accompanied me.

Dan McConnell offered to fly Dad down to Atlanta so he could drive back with me. So Dad and Dan flew in on Thursday night.
These two farts have been friends for 44 years. Dan was my Dad's best man in his wedding. Dan & Dona graciously allowed me to live with them when I first moved to Atlanta. Dan gave me the PGA tickets, in which I invited Mat to, which kinda kick started our relationship. They are wonderful family friends of ours.

Mat's Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAT!

The birthday boy got to sleep in which was fabulous for him! Then I attempted to make a birthday breakfast of pancakes and bacon. So I kinds screwed up. Apparently whole-wheat flour does not work the same as regular flour. Hmmm, I didn't know that. So the first batch had to be dumped. I whipped up another batch and those were tons better. We added cinnimon chips AND buttersotch chips that I loved!

After breakfast, I got started on the birthday cake. With the help of GG, we make Mat's birthday cake. Um, it didn't turn out exactly perfect but it was...kinda yummy?!?! Everyone was very kind and had a piece. They didn't take any home! Probably wouldn't get through security! I promised to do better next year!

We were sad to see everyone go!! But we had a wonderful weekend with the family. After we got back from the airport, Millie was in a fabulous mood. We open the shades and took some AMAZING pictures. There are too many to post! Please flip through them and enjoy!!

Pretty Pink Party Dress

Today while I went to lunch, Mat and the family went to Sidebar to watch the Gator game. Apparently Millie didn't enjoy that so much. She likes it better when they have the outside set-up. Maybe next time.
After the Gator game we went to dinner for Mat's 35th birthday. JCT Kitchen was delicious. A little slow but it was a great dinner. Millie was awake and quiet as a mouse. She really enjoyed the candles and all the noise. For Mat's birthday, Millie wore her pretty pink party dress. This is the first time wearing it (Thank you to Jose and Pavan!).

Morning Fun Time

We had a great morning of fun with Grandma, Grandpa and GG. GG got these great sock hand (or foot) puppets and Millie loved them!
